Our album of the month for February 2017 is none other than Modern Ruin by Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes which has been released by International Death Cult Records.
The eagerly anticipated second album by Frank Carter was definitely well worth the wait, with title tracks such as ‘Snake Eyes’ & ‘Lullaby’ giving you a feeling like no other. Modern Ruin is definitely a step up from Blossom and gives a completely different vibe. Where Blossom was quite aggressive and hard this album is mellow and quite emotional. This album lately came close to No.1 in the album charts when it was released 2 weeks ago which shows that fans of the music industry are still out there buying albums which is …beyond amazing!
The album artwork throughout the promotion of this album has been astonishing and if you didn’t notice that the album artwork itself is a close-up photograph of Frank Carters pet dog Bluebelle which has also been named for the opening track on the album.
From a previous in store show at Empire Records, St. Albans on Sunday 22nd January that we attended Frank explained what the album was about to the crowd of around 30 people. Whilst playing tracks from the album acoustically Frank & Dean explained that the album was to show pieces of their previous experiences and emotions that were around during that time. Some regard family and other experiences such as times away on tour.
From ordering the A5 book version of Modern Ruin (which came with a CD version of the album) we were able to see the stories that have been written for each song and can see that there were a flow of emotions with all of these tracks.
There is a reason behind each song. It’s an emotional rollercoaster of an album.
The response this album has had in the past few weeks is astonishing and we have not seen anything like this before in the recent ‘download’ years.
