Their seventh full length album comes following a six year stint of no releases and for an understandable reason. Sadly, following the passing of lifelong friend Sean Kennedy in 2021 I completely understand why JJ and the others chose to take some time.
JJ and existing member Matt Rogers were joined by Apolinário “Poli” Correia (Devil In Me) Jesse Labovitz (No Warning) on bass and drums to help record and write their latest album at Eyeball Studios in Portugal.
Without speaking to the band and researching the title of their forthcoming album it would seem the word Saudade is a Portuguese and Galician word that describes “a deep emotional state of nostalgic or melancholic longing for something or someone absent, loved, and desired, even for something that may never have existed.”
If this is the case then this is a great ode to a lifelong friend and I applaude JJ and the band for doing so.
They are due to play a string of shows in Europe this November supporting Rise of the Northstar and a few headline shows in France and Germany. Unfortunely for us there are no UK dates (as of yet). I hope to see them hit our shores again soon, bringing their emence energy to our stages again.
