False Reality have been making waves in the UK Hardcore scene over in the past year with appearances all over the country including the likes of 2000 Trees, Burn It Down, No Play, the BN1 X LBU crossover event in Brighton and some sick support slots under some of hardcores best in Stray From The Path & Stick To Your Guns just to name a few.
Formed in 2023 the London based hardcore band have deep routes within the UKHC scene and with the imminent release of their second studio album Faded Intentions released via Hassle Records due in as little as a few weeks time I can only see these guys travelling on an upwards trajectory from this point on, and I’m here for every moment of it!
They’re rapidly solidifying their status as one of the most exciting acts in the UK Hardcore scene at the moment.
We’ve all heard some of new tracks from the album including Cranium, Cost of Spite, Reality Slips, Frozen, and most recently this week Mirror. Well, if you haven’t make sure you do!
So, in the lead up to Faded Intentions being released I got chatting to Rachel to discuss everything from how they came together to what we can expect from the new album!

FIRST OF ALL WHERE ARE YOU GUYS BASED AND HOW DID YOU ALL MEET?
I’m based in Essex, but the rest of the guys originate from different areas of London. We met around 15 years ago through going to hardcore shows so we’ve been friends for a really long time.
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME ‘FALSE REALITY’?
We sat in a pub with a big list of different ideas each of us came up with, and it’s the one that just really stood out to us the most and felt right.
A lot of our songs are about unmasking fakeness, seeing through peoples facades, so False Reality just felt right for the project we’ve created.

WHO HAS BEEN SOME OF THE LARGEST INFLUENCES IN YOUR SOUND?
We use sooo many different influences – we try to incorporate everyone who inspired us and was our gateway to discovering hardcore. From Sepultura, Deftones and Mortal Sin to Limp Bizkit, Glassjaw and Hatebreed.
We pull from a lot of different veins.
WHAT HAS BEEN SOME OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES YOU’VE BEEN FACED WITH?
Organising our time for sure. You never really grasp just how much time and effort a musical project can take out of your daily life especially while we’re all working regular 9-5’s. It’s consuming in the best way and we love every moment. It’s just amazing how quick time flies when you’re having fun.

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR ALL TIME FAVOURITE ARTISTS?
Basement, Dirty Money and my all time favourite since I was 13…. Paramore.
WHAT ARE THE TOP THREE SHOWS YOU’VE HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO PLAY & WHAT WOULD BE YOUR ‘THE’ VENUE TO PLAY IN THE FUTURE?
We love absolutely any show we have ever played at BOOM in Leeds. The energy there is unmatched and what they have created there is truly special, the same with Burn It Down – a DIY festival built from nothing and truly thriving.

2000 Trees was also a real bucket list moment and was truly special to us. We’d love to play Sound and Fury or Rebellion fest, now that’d REALLY be a tick on the bucket list.
We can’t wait to start playing some dates in the US.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM TOUR TO BE INCLUDED IN?
I’d absolutely love us to be on a tour with Spiritbox or Deftones one day – lets keep our fingers crossed!
WHAT HAS BEEN THE CRAZIEST EXPERIENCE THAT YOU’VE HAD TOGETHER OVER THE YEARS?
Playing at Winteriip Fest – someone threw an inflatable doughnut and it somehow perfectly landed around Dave while he was playing. Incredible.
YOU’RE DUE TO RELEASE YOUR UPCOMING ALBUM ‘FADED INTENTIONS’ VERY SOON, WHAT INFLUENCES HAVE YOU TAKEN TO SHAPE THIS ALBUM?

Our music is always influenced by how intricate each individual person you see in life has their own unique story and experiences.
We like to dig deep into situations we’ve all experienced and situations we’ve seen others experience. Faded Intentions really dives into feelings of abandonment, betrayal, loyalty and love.
We have a whole kaleidoscope of influences in this next album even in the actual sound itself. We really explored further with our sound and had a lot of fun writing this.
HAVE YOU GOT ANY HOBBIES/INTERESTS THAT YOU’D LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT?
I’m very into fashion/jewellery/thrifting, horror films/games, cooking, paranormal and true crime.
Joe is into football/rugby, producing music, history and reading.
Dave is into early 2000’s garage, gaming, tonic wine and chicken shops.
Louis is into film, video editing, business podcasts and drumming.
FINALLY, HAVE YOU GOT ANY OTHER ARTISTS/FRIENDS YOU THINK THE PEOPLE SHOULD CHECK OUT?
Definitely check out Overpower, Mindless, Burial Code and Exhume.
