It’s sometimes forgotten that our local areas need some undivided attention.

With so many of us who live in surrounding area’s of London, we often head into the City to see shows at various venues as they are a simple train/bus journey away and just plain easy to do. I know myself that I have been doing the same thing as many of you for over 15 years.

Our local shows can sometimes be forgotten, but one new promoter is trying to change that in their area.

Catastrophic Collective are on a mission to bring hardcore shows back to their local area of Guildford, Surrey with their first show taking place imminently.

I’ve been speaking to the guys recently and asked what the idea was behind Catastrophic Collective?

“We are Uni students who want an opportunity to bring heavy music back to Guildford. We want to make sure that we have an inclusive space for everyone to feel welcome.”

To me, this is what the UK Hardcore community is about. Getting shows going again in neglected or overlooked areas and with most of those are surrounding the City. Buidling an inclusive space for everyone to get involved and hopefully they’ll be able to bring new people in.

Why did you take it upon yourselves to get heavy shows going in Guildford again?

“We took it upon ourselves becasue we saw all the foundations here. But didn’t see any shows.
We also wanted a space where artists get treated fairly. We have boileroom down here and they make you pay for equipment and don’t treat bands who are playing very well.”

Catastrophic Collectives first show will take place on Thursday 19th March at Guildford City Club and will be headlined by East Anglia Haters 2nd Location! These guys will be joined by 4 support bands who you can find out about below:

Parethesia

Reading based hardcore death metal band Paresthesia are set to open up this show. Paresthesia started playing shows at the beginning of 2025 and after catching them open JoshFest back in November they are a young band to keep an eye on in the scene.

I’ve been speaking to vocalist Brea recently about the band and their debut EP due to release. So keep your eyes peeled on the site in the next couple of weeks for their interview.

Mug Shot (@metalheadundead_hc)

Coming out of Kent, Punk band Mug Shot will be joining the line up. These guys released their debut EP ‘Sort It Out‘ back in the summer of 2025 and most recently supported the likes of Going Off, Chemical Storm & Burner. If you dig that classic punk sound check out their EP!

Kangia | Thom Langford Photography (@thomlangford)

Another band joining the line up are Kangia. Kangia released their debut single ‘Elissa‘ at the start of 2025. This 5 piece band have been regulars around the Guildford area recently supported Heavy Wild down in Brighton. They are due to play The Star, Guildford tomorrow night supporting Sugar Darling.

So if you’ve got the time and are local hit up that show in advance to get a taste of what Kangia can do!

Barbed Wire

Another band out of the RGHC scene in Reading are main support band Barbed Wire. These lads have been on shows with the likes of Ironed Out, Peruvian Necktie & Dispute. They have recently released their latest self titled single Barbed Wire featuring 12 Gauge Autopsy. These guys haven’t been around long but they know how to set up a show. So don’t miss out!

2nd Location | (@woodvisuals)

East Anglia Haters 2nd Location are set to headline Catastrophic Collectives first show. Their debut EP Blood & It’s Absence released back in July 2025 and is something I can completely dig and move along to. One track I think absolutely hits hard is Stomped Out if that track isn’t literally making you Stomp I don’t know what will.

They have some sick shows coming up including support for BN1’s Tempers Fray, Dispute & Broken Lungs.

Catastrophic Collectives first show will take place on Thursday 19th March at Guildford City Club with doors open at 7PM. Tickets are available in advance online now at only £7.50 and will be £10 OTD.
