Human Deceit – Sever and Survive

Nottingham Riffers Human Deceit dropped Sever and Survive back in 2023 and no matter how often I spin their stuff, I just love how the tracks work on this EP especially one of my favourites Hollow Rhetoric. Just that mix of hardcore, metal, crossover whatever you want to call it, it sounds sick!

I just fucking love this first EP.

Human Deceit are definitely one band you need to witness live and I implore you to go as soon as you can.. Their stage presence, aura, whatever you want to call it makes the show hit off.

Hour of Reprisal – Endless War, Endless Peace

Norwich Straight Edge band Hour of Reprisal released their most recent EP back in February last year and it is fantastic! A staple in the EAHC this group of guys are definitely showing what East Anglia can produce.

That metallic hardcore style with those heavy vocals stays on my rotation. The opening track Surgical Strike is definitely a favourite of mine with how it introduces the entire EP, fading in to that hevayness.

Not to forget how well produced the mixes are! and as well as having Uncertaintly & Missgendered featuring on tracks. Just go and have a listen you won’t be dissapointed!

So Far So Good – So Far So Good
Release Date: 14th November 2025

So Far So Good dropped their recent works back in the winter of 2025 and it opens as it closes, heavy!

Those guitar riffs make you want to move and when you hear those high notes it just sounds sick. They have a lot of dance sections, whether thats two steps but then when the tracks just get going its a crowdkill situation.

There’s a great mix of heavyness and melody to every track. One of my favourites is No Love Lost especailly when the electronic section comes in towards the end such a great idea.

I can’t wait to catch them again at this years Burn It Down Fest.

BiteWound – Ruthless Reality
Release Date: 20th April 2026

BiteWound hail out of the east midlands hardcore scene. They released their latest works Ruthless Reality last month and for one not only does the EP slap but I absolutely love the title track!

Those heavy, slow paced hardcore guitar riffs, which at points also give a proper metal sound and those snare hits in the tracks makes you want to jump in that pit, windmill and crowdkill.

It just makes me want to vibe.

Toil/Frail – Welcome To Essex
Release Date: 25th March 2026
Record Label: Self Released

This split from two fo Essex’s up and coming hardcore units Toil & Frail is nothing but HARD AF.

I came across both bands earlier on in 2026 and when this was released it was straight up in the headphones. Elements of hard hitting drum beats, two step scenarios and beatdown guitar riffs.

With some additional features throughout 3 of the 4 tracks including featuring on eachothers tracks; Frail also have bands Terrorist & Out of Spite as well as Toil on their track Essex Crew!

Proper Heavy Hardcore/Gym Fuel.

There are some proper sick bands coming out of Essex so give this split a spin and give the guys some love!

BONUS

Departures – Death Touches Us, From The Moment We Begin To Love
Release Date: 29th July 2016
Record Label: Holy Roar Records

Departures were one of my favourite melodic hardcore bands (and still are to be fair) back in the early 2010’s and this album solidified itselef as one of my favourites of all time.

It’s one of those albums that I know for me I can just let roll through the entire thing, and that’s hard to do in todays world. I only caught them a handful of times before they disbanded in 2020 but if you haven’t listened to them before definitely give this album and their whole catalogue a listen.
