This weekend at the BEC in Manchester celebrates the 15th Anniversary of Outbreak Fest and I’m so stoked to be tearing it up this year.

So I thought I’d share and big up some bands I’m looking forward to catching this weekend:

(FYI, this is all form my own personal experience, who I’ve caught before to who I haven’t seen in a long time or ever! It’s definitely worth checking out every sick band playing this weekend!)

Turn Of Phrase
(Saturday, Third Stage 12:30pm – 1:00pm)

I haven’t had the priviledge of catching London/Brighton based melodic hardcore band Turn Of Phrase as of yet so when they were added to the Outbreak Fest line up it seemed a great opportunity to finally catch them!

With their influences based around bands such as Basement, Have Heart, Title Fight and carving it with their own style you can tell by their debut EP Finish Just to Begin that they definitely bring that vibe.

Head there early to catch their set!

Songs to check out (IMO): Eternal Recurrence, Possessed, No Time for Now

Still In Love
(Saturday, Third Stage 2:30pm – 3:00pm)

Now I know it’s always a good time catching the lads in Still In Love and the last time I was able to was at their intimate album release show at Blondies Bar in East London…and that…has been one of my favourite shows over the past year.

Since their debut album release last September, Still In Love have been pushing with some fantastic shows booked up throughou the summer. Including 2000 Trees, Outbreak & a support for Bring Me The Horizons Count Your Blessings shows also at the BEC.

If you love late 2000’s, early 2010’s UK Hardcore then these guys are worth checking out (if you haven’t yet, then what are you doing?)

Songs to check out (IMO): Sober, Nervous Impulse, Preserve & Cherish

???
(Saturday, Main Stage 3:00pm – 3:40pm)

Now I can’t really say much about this one…but it’s exciting not to know right!

Crowquill
(Sunday, Second Stage 12:00pm – 12:30pm)

Crowquill open up the festival this Sunday and I’m excited to catch these guys again, especially for the vocals from Liam!

I last caught Crowquill for the first time last November at Joshfest in Reading and was stunned by everything that they brought to the table.

If you love deathcore screaming esc. hardcore with a bit of melodic vibes to it then you’re about to see something crazy go off.

One of Crowquills most recent shows was opening up for Guilt Trip’s album release at The Star and Garter in Manchester a few weeks back and since I last saw them they’ve released their most recent tracks back in May. Definitely another band worth getting to the fest early for!

Songs to check out (IMO): Everything (I Need To Know), The Family Faucet, Crowquill

Trash Talk
(Sunday, Second Stage 5:00pm – 5:40pm)

Now we’re getting away from some of the UK bands as I’m definitely heading over to catch California’s own Trash Talk. I haven’t seen this band for almost a decade so to see them on this line up was a woah moment for me.

One of my fairly early hardcore shows I witnessed was seeing these guys rip up The Underworld in Camden when their album Eyes & Nines was released in 2010 and again a few years later when 119 was released.

It’s been a while since these guys hit up the UK so I’m going to make the most of the craziness.

Songs to check out (IMO): F.E.B.N, Apathy, Vultures

Trapped Under Ice
(Sunday, Main Stage 7:20pm – 8:00pm)

Now this one should be on everybodies lists to check out (again IMO) Baltimore’s very own TUI head back to Outbreak Fest this weekend and bring with them every classic you could imagine from the US Hardcore scene.

From most people I speak to when I ask who they’re favourite US hardcore bands are, Trapped Under Ice is mostly in those lists.

I caught them last November headling the pre show for Revolution Calling out in Eindhoven in the Netherlands and for my first time seeing them since their 2016 Underworld headliner it was one of those shows you just went straight in for.

Come listen to the band that spawned Angel Du$t & Turnstile (if you didn’t know).

You’ll be sure to catch me at their set this weekend!

Songs to check out (IMO): Pleased To Meet You, Disconnect, Gemini

Suicidal Tendencies
(Sunday, Second Stage 8:00pm – 8:50pm)

Now this is one band I am really looking forward to and one I have never been able to catch previously.

Formed out in Venice, California back in the early 1980’s Suicidal Tendencies were part of the early punk scene out in the west and became popular with the skate culture with their thrash metal style.

To have such an iconic punk/thrash/hardcore band high on this bill is great to see! and I can’t wait to finally catch these guys.

Songs to check out (IMO): Cyco Vision, Institutionalized, I Ain’t Like You

Let’s just say I’m definitely looking forward to catching a huge amount of bands as well as the ones I’ve spoke about this weekend at the festival. If I was to name every band I’m catching you’d just be getting a list from me.

Either way, I’m going to enjoy being with everyone this weekend, meeting people, making new pals so if you’re about definitely come and say whats up! (I don’t bite).

Until next time, I’ll catch you in the pit!
