We had a chat with guitarist/vocalist Craig O’Neill of Scottish post hardcore band Sleepless.

How did the band start?

Three of us were previously in a band when we were 16. We’ve wanted to get something going ever since then but never had the chance. A few months ago, we got one of our best friends (Crookie, our vocalist) involved and it just went from there.

How did the name come about?

The name… it was just a trial and error thing. Going through heaps of names and eventually landed on Sleepless.

What has been the craziest experience that you have had?

We’ve only been a band a few months and haven’t even played a show yet so there’s nothing too crazy, but seeing people from America liking our track is pretty cool.

Have you got any shows lined up in the near future?

We have. We play Aberdeen and Dundee on the 14th and 15th of November which will be our first shows.

Who have been your biggest influences?

We have a wide range of influences but it has mainly been A Day To Remember, Of Mice & Men, Secrets and any other bands along those lines.

Who would you dream to play with on tour?

Personally for me, my dream tour would be with A Day To Remember as a headline with Bring Me The Horizon as main support followed up by Secrets and us to open!

What influenced your debut single?

‘The Enemy’ with the name and lyrics seen in the video, it’s quite self explanatory! We’re hoping to get back into the studio soon and record an EP.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

The biggest challenge we’ve had so far is trying to find time for us all to practice!

How would you describe your sound?

We like to mix it up. We have heavy songs and we have light songs. We just like to play what we write without tying ourselves down too much. If you like bands like Of Mice & Men and A Day To Remember then there’s a high chance you’re going to like us too!

How happy were you with the production of your single?

We couldn’t be more happy with the production of our single! Our good friend Nick Scholey from Aberdeen did it for us. He’s worked with the likes of Lower Than Atlantis, Yashin, etc. We’re really happy with the final product we got from him and are happy to have him producing our EP too.
